Encino Homes Have Specific
Electrical Needs.
Encino is one of our most active service areas, and the work tends to follow the housing stock. The 1940s-1960s ranch homes south of Ventura have aging electrical systems — often the original 100A panels, sometimes still running knob-and-tube in the attic. The 1970s-1990s homes have aluminum branch wiring problems showing up at terminations. The newer luxury rebuilds north of the boulevard need full-spec panels (200A or 320A), EV chargers, smart home wiring, and pool electrical coordinated cleanly with the GC.
Encino is part of the City of Los Angeles, so all permits route through LADBS. We pull every permit, schedule every inspection, and attend on-site. Most LADBS residential electrical permits issue within 3-5 business days.
Common Encino Projects.
- Knob-and-tube replacement — the southern half of Encino has many 1925-1950 homes with original K&T still in service. Insurance underwriters increasingly require replacement.
- 200A panel upgrades — older homes outgrowing the original 100A or 150A service, especially during kitchen remodels or after EV purchase.
- Aluminum branch remediation — 1965-1973 Encino homes with aluminum branch wiring need either CO/ALR remediation or full replacement.
- EV charger installs — Tesla, Rivian, ChargePoint — about 40% of Encino installs we quote also need a panel upgrade.
- Whole-home rewires on older properties going through major remodel.
- Pool and spa electrical — pump wiring, heater circuits, low-voltage pool lighting, automation.
- Recessed lighting and dimmer installs in finished spaces.
- Sub-panel installation for ADUs, garage workshops, and pool houses.
Services available in Encino
Knob-and-Tube & Insurance.
If you own an older Encino home with knob-and-tube wiring, here’s the situation: most major homeowner insurance carriers in California (Allstate, Mercury, AAA, Farmers) are no longer renewing policies on K&T homes. Some require partial removal (just attic and accessible runs). Others require full replacement. We work with homeowners on both partial and full K&T remediations, and we provide the documented removal and inspection paperwork your insurance carrier needs to issue or renew the policy.
LADBS Permits & Process.
Every Encino electrical project goes through LADBS. Service upgrades also coordinate with LADWP for the service-drop change. Permit issuance is typically 3-5 business days for residential electrical. LADWP service-drop coordination usually takes 2 weeks from request to scheduled shutoff. We handle the entire permit lifecycle — pulling, posting, scheduling inspections, and closing out.
