Outlets & Dedicated Circuits
in Los Angeles.

New outlets, GFCI upgrades, and dedicated circuits for ranges, dryers, dishwashers, AC units, EV chargers, and home offices. Tamper-resistant per NEC 2023, Leviton Decora throughout, permitted where required.

The Outlet Type
Matters More Than You Think.

The wrong outlet in the wrong place is one of the most common code issues we find on home inspections. NEC 2023 requires GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, outdoor locations, basements, and within six feet of any sink. AFCI protection is required in bedrooms, living rooms, and most habitable spaces. Tamper-resistant outlets are required everywhere except specific exceptions. The difference between a code-correct outlet and a 1990s replacement plug is the difference between a passing home inspection and a failed one.

Beyond code, the right outlet plan makes a home work. Dedicated circuits stop your kitchen from tripping every time the toaster and microwave run. NEMA 14-50 outlets get your EV charging at full speed. Bathroom GFCIs that actually trip on a fault save lives. We install all of it, properly.

What We Install.

  • Standard outlets — new locations, existing-location swaps, Leviton Decora tamper-resistant
  • GFCI outlets — kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor, garage, basement — per NEC 2023 requirements
  • USB-integrated outlets — bedside, kitchen counter, home office
  • USB-C and high-amperage USB outlets — for laptops and tablets
  • Smart outlets — Lutron Caseta, smart Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, integrated with home automation
  • Dedicated circuits for: range (240V/50A), dryer (240V/30A), dishwasher (120V/20A), microwave (120V/20A), refrigerator (120V/20A), garbage disposal (120V/20A), AC unit (240V/30-50A), EV charger (240V/50A), heat pump (240V/30-50A), tankless water heater
  • NEMA 14-50 outlets — for EV chargers, RV hookups, and electric ranges
  • NEMA 6-50 and 6-30 outlets — for welders, dryers, larger appliances

  • Sub-panel circuits — for ADUs, garages, workshops, pool houses

Our Process.

  1. Walk-ThroughWe discuss what you need: which appliance, where, what amperage. Look at the panel for available capacity.
  2. Load CalculationFor dedicated circuits over 20A, we run a load calc. If your panel can’t carry the new circuit, we tell you straight — sometimes a panel upgrade is needed first.
  3. Written QuoteItemized: outlet count, circuit length, panel work, permit fee. Clear total.
  4. Permit PullFor new circuits, LADBS permit. One-for-one outlet replacements usually don’t need a permit.
  5. InstallPull the wire (in-wall fishing or attic/crawlspace routing), set the box, land the outlet, land the breaker. Test under load.
  6. InspectionFor permitted work, LADBS inspector. First-pass standard.

Cost & Timeline.

Starting From
$150 per outlet
A single new outlet on an existing circuit: $150-$350. New dedicated circuit (range, dryer, EV, AC): $350-$900 + permit. Bundle work (multiple outlets in one visit) is more efficient per-outlet. Itemized written quote on every job.

Typical schedule: same day for single outlet additions. Half day to full day for new dedicated circuits. 1-2 days for kitchen or bathroom outlet remodels with GFCI upgrades.

NEC 2023 & Code Compliance.

We install to current code on every job. That means: tamper-resistant outlets in all habitable spaces, GFCI in wet locations and within six feet of sinks, AFCI on bedrooms and living areas, dedicated circuits for major appliances, weatherproof in-use covers outdoors, and proper grounding throughout. The code matters because it represents thirty years of fire-safety lessons. We don’t cut corners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Outlets & Circuits FAQs.

How much does it cost to add a new outlet?

Adding a single new outlet on an existing circuit typically runs $150-$350 depending on access (open wall vs fish through closed wall), distance from the panel, and whether GFCI protection is needed. New dedicated circuits run $350-$900.

What’s a dedicated circuit and when do I need one?

A dedicated circuit is a single circuit that powers only one major appliance — like a range, dryer, dishwasher, AC unit, or EV charger. Code requires dedicated circuits for any major appliance, and they prevent overload and shared-circuit issues.

Do I need GFCI outlets in my kitchen?

Yes. NEC 2023 requires GFCI protection for all kitchen counter outlets, all bathroom outlets, garage outlets, outdoor outlets, basement outlets, and any outlet within 6 feet of a sink.

We upgrade as needed during any kitchen or bathroom remodel.

Can you install a NEMA 14-50 outlet for my range or RV?

Yes. NEMA 14-50 (240V/50A) outlets are common for electric ranges, RV hookups, and EV chargers. We pull a dedicated 50A circuit, install the receptacle, and pull the LADBS permit — typically a half-day to one-day install.

How long does adding outlets take?

Adding a single outlet on an existing circuit: 1-2 hours. Adding a dedicated circuit (range, dryer, EV): half a day to a full day depending on routing. Multiple outlets in a single project: usually a day.

Do I need a permit to add outlets?

Adding new circuits or moving outlets typically requires an LADBS electrical permit. Replacing an existing outlet one-for-one with the same type usually doesn’t. We pull permits when required.
