Why Calabasas Homeowners
Hire Alpha One Electric.
Calabasas is one of our primary service areas. We work in Calabasas every week — from older properties near Mulholland Highway that need full panel upgrades and rewires, to the newer hillside developments where homeowners are adding EV chargers, pool automation, and outdoor lighting on a rolling basis. The Calabasas housing stock skews premium, the projects tend to involve long conduit runs and higher-end finishes, and the homeowners we work with expect their electrical contractor to deliver work that matches the rest of the home.
Calabasas falls under LA County jurisdiction, so most electrical permits route through LA County DPW rather than LADBS. The process is similar but uses different forms and a separate inspector queue. We pull every permit, schedule the inspections, and attend on-site. You don’t spend an afternoon on hold with the county.
Common Calabasas Projects.
Most of what we do in Calabasas falls into a few buckets:
- 200A and 320A panel upgrades on homes built 1985-2005 that are outgrowing the original service
- EV charger installs — Tesla Wall Connectors and ChargePoint units in 3-4 car garages, often paired with panel upgrades
- Pool and spa electrical — Hayward OmniLogic automation, sub-panel work, low-voltage pool lighting, heater circuits
- Outdoor and exterior lighting — landscape lighting on slopes, deck and patio lighting, hardscape illumination
- Smart home and Lutron systems — Lutron RadioRA, Caseta, and Crestron-adjacent integrations
- Sub-panel installation for guest houses, ADUs, garage workshops, and pool houses
- Whole-home rewires on older properties with knob-and-tube or aluminum branch wiring
Services available in Calabasas
Hillside & Premium-Spec Work.
Calabasas properties frequently involve hillside lots, longer service runs, and grading conditions that complicate exterior electrical work. We handle hillside service drops, exterior conduit runs in rigid steel where corrosion is a concern, sub-panel installs for detached garages and guest houses, low-voltage transformer placement for landscape lighting, and proper bonding on pool equipment installed at significant grade changes from the main panel.
If your project involves an architect, a designer, or a general contractor, we work directly with their drawings and timelines. Most Calabasas remodels we work on go through a designer or GC; we’re used to the rhythm.
Calabasas Permits & Inspections.
Most of Calabasas is unincorporated Los Angeles County, which means electrical permits go through LA County Department of Public Works (DPW). Some pockets fall under City of Calabasas, which has its own building department. We know the difference and route the permit through the right authority. Inspection schedules through LA County DPW typically run 2-3 weeks from permit issuance to first available inspection slot.
